Revelation - not that complicated...

JESUS WINS... & so do we!!!

The book of Revelation is an astonishing picture of what is really going on in both the world and in heaven. In the limited vision that man has of his surroundings Revelation is a glimpse at the truth, opening up man’s eyes to who God really is and the greater workings of heaven and earth under his sovereign hand. Essentially the reality is that God is Lord over all and he is utterly worthy of worship by all creation, for absolutely everything finds its proper place in glorifying him. This is the telling of how Jesus is the one way in which humanity can stand before God’s wrath, his judgment on creation that has turned away from him. The message is that those who repent and rest on Jesus will indeed be given restoration with God as they bow their knee in worship to him. Those who refuse to repent have no hope of escape from God’s imminent justice, that all humanity deserves the wrath of God because of their stubborn refusal to worship him. The reality is that Jesus has overcome Satan and death, and that all who rest in him will never perish, having gained the gift of eternal life with God himself. The current world that humanity lives in is but a shadow of the greater life yet to come, the second life is assuredly to come for all men. Revelation draws a hard line here, that those who belong to God will dwell in eternal bliss with him where as those who reject him will find no mercy outside of Jesus and be destined to eternal torment and destruction. This is the overriding picture seen in Revelation, that there are two destinies for man, either eternal dwelling with God or eternal damnation.

The reality for believers is that their hope is eternally secure in Jesus, for their names are written in his book of life… knowing their destiny is that they will dwell with God forever. Believers can endure anything then in this life to come, holding fast to the hope they have in Jesus. Those who refuse to bow their knee to God in repentance reap the consequences of God’s wrath.
